About this role

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Reports to: CEO

Role Purpose

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will lead day-to-day operations across all business units and sites, with overall accountability for building and implementing one consistent operating standard across the entire 3PL network, covering both facilities and transportation.

This role is created to establish stronger, centralized operational leadership across previously independent teams. By bringing these operations under one leader, the COO will drive standardization, operational discipline, productivity, cost efficiency, and cross-business synergies.

The COO will be the key operational leader responsible for ensuring that all business units operate against consistent standards while maintaining high levels of service and execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations across all business units and operating sites, including:
  • Transport Operations
  • Retail WCM
  • PLH
  • Fresh WCM & WinEco
  • MML Operations
  • Integrate Consumer MCH Operations, transferred from the CFO organization, into the consolidated operations structure.
  • Design and implement one standardized 3PL operating model across all facilities and transportation operations.
  • Standardize processes, operating procedures, performance management, and ways of working across previously independent teams.
  • Identify and drive operational synergies across business units, sites, and functions.
  • Own and improve key operational performance indicators, including:
  • DIFOT (Delivery In Full, On Time)
  • Productivity
  • Cost per unit
  • Establish clear operational standards, governance, and accountability across the network.
  • Partner with the CSCO on future network design and the development of the 4PL model.
  • Partner with the Director of Digitalization to ensure WMS/TMS capabilities effectively support operational processes, visibility, and performance.
  • Lead operational transformation and change initiatives across the consolidated organization.

Scope of Responsibility

  • Transport Operations
  • Retail WCM
  • PLH
  • Fresh WCM & WinEco
  • MML Operations
  • Consumer MCH Operations — transferred from CFO

Success Metrics

The COO will be primarily measured against:

  • DIFOT (Delivery In Full, On Time)
  • Operational productivity
  • Cost per unit
  • Consistency and adoption of standardized operating processes
  • Operational efficiency and synergies across business units
  • Successful integration of previously independent operating teams

Requirements & Experience

  • Extensive senior operations leadership experience across multiple business units, facilities, or geographic locations.
  • Strong background in 3PL, FMCG distribution, logistics, supply chain, or other complex multi-site operational environments.
  • Proven track record of consolidating fragmented operations and implementing a unified operating model.
  • Demonstrated experience standardizing processes and operating practices across teams that previously operated independently.
  • Strong understanding of operational performance management, with hands-on ownership of DIFOT, productivity, cost, service levels, and operational efficiency.
  • Experience working closely with supply chain/network design, technology, and digitalization teams to implement operational improvements.
  • Strong people leadership experience managing large, diverse, and geographically distributed operational teams.

Core Competencies

Hands-On Operator

A practical and execution-oriented leader who is comfortable managing complex, high-volume, multi-site operations.

Change Leader

Able to bring together teams that have historically operated under different reporting lines, processes, and working cultures.

Standards-Driven

Strong belief in establishing clear, consistent operating standards and ensuring they are adopted across all sites—not simply agreed upon at management level.

Performance-Focused

Highly disciplined in managing operational KPIs and driving measurable improvements in service, productivity, and cost.

Cross-Functional Collaborator

Works effectively with peer leaders across Supply Chain, Technology, Finance, and Product to ensure strategic initiatives translate into operational results.

Integrator

Able to identify common practices, eliminate duplication, and create synergies across business units while maintaining operational continuity.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate has successfully consolidated fragmented, multi-site operations into a unified operating model, ideally within a 3PL, FMCG distribution, logistics, or similarly complex environment.

They are a strong hands-on operator who can establish one clear way of working across Transport, Retail WCM, PLH, Fresh, and MML operations. They understand that standardization is not simply about creating policies—it is about designing processes that frontline teams can realistically execute and consistently sustain.

The right leader will bring operational discipline, strong change-management capability, and a relentless focus on service, productivity, and cost, while working closely with the CSCO and Digitalization leadership to build a more integrated and scalable operating platform.
