Product Engineer (Mid-Level)
About this role
This mid-level Product Engineer will contribute across the full stack to help a scaling startup build reliable, user-focused products that integrate AI capabilities and sound infrastructure; you’ll work closely with founders, product, and design to deliver measurable outcomes and shape technical direction during early-stage growth.
What youll do
- Own end-to-end product features from scoping requirements to deployment in production.
- Design APIs and data models and implement frontend and backend code.
- Ship user-facing experiences that balance usability and performance and iterate from feedback and metrics.
- Integrate AI/LLM capabilities into product flows to make intelligence reliable for end users.
- Design and implement scalable backend services, data schemas, and operational tooling (CI/CD, monitoring, testing).
- Collaborate directly with founders, product, and design to prioritize work and define success metrics.
- Participate in architecture and roadmap discussions and make pragmatic tradeoffs appropriate for early-stage growth.
What Clera is looking for
- 2–8 years of software engineering experience with proven delivery of shipped user-facing products.
- Strong full-stack skills: TypeScript and React/Next.js for frontend plus backend experience in Python or Node.js.
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and cloud platforms (AWS or GCP).
- Practical experience integrating LLMs or other AI services into production applications (engineering, not research).
- Demonstrated product sense with ability to translate user problems into practical, measurable solutions.
- Comfort operating in small teams with limited process and high ambiguity and moving between frontend, backend, and DevOps tasks.
- Experience building multi-tenant or enterprise-ready systems, API design, real-time systems, and scaling high-throughput applications.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows (e.g., Cursor) and background working in regulated industries (healthcare, fintech, legal) or complex internal tools.
