Summary
Reporting to the Head of Sales and Operations for the Utility Infrastructure Group, City Electric Supply is seeking a motivated and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our Utility National Solutions Team. This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and expanding strategic business opportunities within the utility, renewable energy, data center, and infrastructure markets.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of electrical distribution, medium voltage products, utility construction, and large-scale project management while building long-term relationships with customers, manufacturers, engineering firms, and CES branches nationwide. Success in this role is measured through annual sales growth, gross profit growth, new strategic accounts, and customer retention.
Essential Job Functions
Develop and execute strategic sales plans focused on Utility, Renewable Energy, BESS, Data Centers, and Infrastructure markets.
Identify new business opportunities through utilities, EPC contractors, engineering firms, municipalities, industrial customers, and renewable developers.
Build executive-level customer relationships.
Manage a national sales pipeline from prospecting through project completion.
Collaborate with CES branches, project managers, quotation specialists, and manufacturer partners.
Lead customer presentations and strategic planning meetings.
Coordinate quotations for complex utility and medium voltage projects.
Develop national agreements and strategic partnerships with manufacturers.
Track opportunities using CRM tools.
Analyze market trends and competitor activity.
Assist with contract negotiations and customer issue resolution.
Represent CES at industry conferences and customer meetings.
Meet or exceed annual sales and gross profit objectives.
QualificationsEducation/Experience
Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent industry experience.
Minimum five years of experience in electrical distribution, utility sales, medium voltage, industrial sales, renewable energy, or manufacturing.
Proven record of developing large customer relationships and growing revenue.
Ability to travel up to 40%.
