We are seeking a Manager, Facilities Management to lead a multidisciplinary team of unionized and non-unionized staff responsible for the operation, maintenance and service delivery of this dynamic portfolio. Reporting to the Director, Facilities Operations Parks & Recreation, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for a broad portfolio of facilities, ensuring they are safe, welcoming, accessible and well maintained. Through a team of Supervisors and frontline staff, you will oversee facility operations, maintenance and repairs, operating budgets, procurement, contract management, capital project support and the development of operational plans, policies and procedures that promote effect, efficiencies and compliant service delivery.
You will provide leadership and direction to Supervisors and staff in managing day-to-day operations, balancing competing priorities and responding to emerging operational challenges. You will foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and service excellent while supporting workforce planning, employee development and continuous improvement across the division .
The ideal candidate brings post-secondary education in a related discipline and significant leadership experience in facility management, operations or a comparable environment. You have a strong understanding of maintenance and asset management practices, budget administration, procurement, contract management and labour relations. You are recognized for your ability to build strong relationships, lead diverse teams, manage competing priorities and drive service excellence through sound operational leadership.
The successful candidate will lead operating budget development and administration, oversee procurement and contract activities, and support the planning and execution of facility renewal and capital improvement projects. You will work closely with internal partners, community stakeholders, elected officials, vendors and regulatory agencies to achieve organizational objectives and address emerging operational needs.
As a people leader, you will be responsible for recruitment, employee development, performance management and labour relations activities, while ensuring compliance with collective agreements, health and safety legislation and organizational policies. You will also represent the division on projects, committees and strategic initiatives, preparing reports and recommendations that support informed decision-making.
A strong knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements, collective agreements and relevant legislation, combined with excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills, will be essential to success in this role.
