JOB SUMMARY
The Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is responsible for building a healthy, inclusive and vibrant City, as well as ensuring that communities, residents and visitors have access to the recreation and cultural places, programs, events and services that allow them to experience all the benefits the City has to offer, and overseeing Buildings and Facilities Management for improved service delivery integration, ensuring the best possible client experience in City facilities.
You are responsible for providing support to the assigned Recreation Facility or Arts Centre with programs such as day camps and swimming lessons. You are assigned responsibilities including cash handling, customer service, programme information/registration, program support and general administrative tasks.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of Grade 10
Less than 3 months of experience working with the public
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES
KNOWLEDGE
- Demonstrated knowledge of computers, software applications and an ability to develop an understanding of corporate computerized registration booking software application required.
- General office and administrative procedures.
- Word processing skills.
- Develops a working knowledge of the Department’s facilities and programmes in order to make appropriate referrals to other sites as required.
- Knowledge of corporate computer software is an asset.
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Displays initiative, reliability and flexibility.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
- Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.
