Our clients are asset managers, BDCs, interval funds, private credit funds, and private equity sponsors. We value on the cadence each client reports on: daily, monthly, quarterly, or as requested. Our marks support client NAV reporting, ASC 820 compliance, and review by valuation committees and audit teams.
We are looking for a Senior Analyst to join the group. You will build the models and write the memos, review work prepared by analysts, and answer auditor questions on what you produced. The work is technical and deadline driven, and you will develop real depth in Level 3 fair value measurement.
Portfolio valuation is the primary focus. You will also get exposure to other valuation engagements as they come up, including fairness and solvency opinions, purchase price allocations, goodwill and intangible asset impairment testing, 409A valuations.
As a Senior Analyst in Portfolio Valuation, you will be responsible for:
Valuing illiquid securities across the capital structure, including private credit (unitranche, first lien, second lien, mezzanine), preferred and common equity, warrants, and structured instruments
Building and maintaining models using income, market, and cost approaches, including DCF, yield analysis, market multiples, precedent transactions, Black Scholes, OPM, PWERM, and backsolve
Sourcing and applying market inputs: comparable public company multiples, credit spreads, transaction data, and broker quotes
Reviewing and quality checking work prepared by analysts, and giving them direct feedback
Drafting valuation memos and recurring deliverables that document methodology, assumptions, and conclusions
Reviewing and challenging manager marks, and documenting the support for independent conclusions
Responding to auditor questions on the models and memos you prepared
Participating in the presentation of analyses and conclusions to internal review committees and client finance teams
Tracking portfolio company performance between valuation dates, flagging credit deterioration or equity value shifts, and updating watchlist commentary
Supporting other valuation engagements as they come up, including fairness and solvency opinions, purchase price allocations, impairment testing, and 409A valuations
Assisting with fee proposals, pitch materials, and thought leadership for prospective fund clients
Qualifications
B.A., B.S., B.B.A., or master’s in finance, accounting, economics, or a related quantitative discipline
2 to 5 years of relevant experience in portfolio valuation, business valuation, investment banking, credit research, private credit or private equity, transaction advisory, or fund audit with valuation exposure
CFA, ASA, or CPA completed or in progress; CFA Level I or ASA candidacy is sufficient at this level
Strong command of Excel modeling, including three statement projections, debt waterfalls, and comparable company analysis
Working knowledge of ASC 820 fair value measurement, the AICPA PE/VC Valuation Guide, and Level 3 inputs
Familiarity with Capital IQ, PitchBook, Bloomberg, Preqin, LCD, Refinitiv, or similar data platforms
Clear, concise writing, with the ability to produce memos that hold up under auditor review
Able to manage multiple engagements against hard reporting deadlines, including daily and intra month valuation cycles
Works well on a small team and can review and train analysts
