The Role
We’re looking for a Designer to develop complex engineering and manufacturing drawings, layouts, and specifications for flare systems. They will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and production personnel to translate design concepts, calculations, and project requirements into accurate fabrication and installation drawings. The Designer III will ensure drawings comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and company procedures while providing technical guidance and support throughout the design and manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities
Develops detailed design drawings and specifications for flare systems, flare stacks, flare headers, knockout drums, liquid seals, flare tips, ignition systems, utility piping, structural supports, and packaged flare equipment using Autodesk Inventor software.
Demonstrate experience with 3D design modeling, piping design, structural steel layouts, ASME and API standards, and flare system design practices.
Reads and interprets P&ID’s, PFD’s, and GA drawings
Works in conjunction with design engineers, project, and shop personnel to produce detailed layouts, hand sketches/drawings and project notes to convert into CADD blueprints
Reviews and analyses specifications, engineering calculations, process data, sketches, vendor information, and project requirements to support flare system design and equipment integration.
Modifies and revises designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems
Verifies dimensions of materials to be used and assigns numbers to the materials
Draws and lays out schematic, orthographic or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines
Works collaboratively with others to pursue department and company goals
Reviews schematics and answers questions pertaining to assembly procedures and instructions
Layout, draw and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems
Verifies the nominal fits of all parts as they are detailed from an overall layout
Manages and plots CAD files, original plots and CNC part programs per company standards and manages the electronic file backups.
Incorporates red lines, field markups, and as-built revisions into existing drawings and models while maintaining drawing accuracy and revision history.
Perform thorough self-checks and quality reviews of all design deliverables prior to submission for engineering review, fabrication, or client release.
What We're Looking ForBasic Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Technical/Trade School certification
Four (4) to six (6) years of experience in Computer Aided Drafting and Design (Inventor and/or Solid Works)
What We’re Looking For
Associates Degree in Engineering bor equivalent experience with Computer Aided Drafting and Design
Working knowledge of 3D CAD Systems
Demonstrated proficiency within drafting disciplines (sheet metal, machining, mechanical and process piping)
Knowledge of Erected Flares, Enclosed Combustors, Skids (Structural), piping and P&ID's
Must have knowledge of production equipment, GPU’s, Separator packages, etc.
Must be able to read and understand ASME Pressure Vessel Code Calculations
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
Excellent written/oral communication skills
Results-oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and administrative skills, including computer proficiency
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications
