The Role:

Coordinates and expedites the flow of materials, products, and shipments through shipping and receiving operations. Leads daily warehouse activities to ensure timely shipments, efficient material handling, inventory accuracy, quality compliance, and adherence to safety standards while maintaining required documentation and records.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Assigns team members to workstations and shipping/receiving activities to meet production and customer delivery requirements.
  • Monitors daily workflow and adjusts work assignments, equipment utilization, and material movement to support changing business priorities and shipment schedules.
  • Confers with supervisor to receive instructions and exchange information regarding shipment status, inventory, quality concerns, and warehouse operations.
  • Communicates and coordinates with production supervisors, quality personnel, material handlers, customer service, planning, and shipping personnel to ensure efficient flow of materials and products.
  • Assigns and works with designated trainers to ensure employees are fully trained in shipping, receiving, packaging, inventory control processes, safety requirements, and department work instructions.
  • Reviews packing lists, shipping documentation, and receiving records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with customer requirements.
  • Coordinates the loading, unloading, packaging, storage, and transportation of products, parts, and raw materials using forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment as required.
  • Monitors inventory movement and material flow to maintain efficiency throughout production and warehouse areas while ensuring proper documentation of incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Works with statistical reporting and analysis of shipping performance, inventory accuracy, delivery metrics, and material shortages; assists with daily toolbox meetings and safety communications.
  • Conducts inspections of packaging, shipments, receiving processes, and inventory transactions to verify conformance to specifications and customer requirements.
  • Supports cross-training initiatives and ensures team members demonstrate competency in essential departmental functions.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships while providing coaching, training, and guidance to team members.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area that supports operational excellence and company safety objectives.
  • Supports and actively participates in company, department, quality, and safety policies, procedures, programs, and continuous improvement activities.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related shipping, receiving, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability or previous experience directing work activities in a warehouse, shipping, receiving, or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and database systems; JDE experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, packing lists, shipping documents, work instructions, diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate activities across multiple departments.
  • Work requires continual attention to detail, strong organizational skills, effective prioritization, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
