POSITION SUMMARY
Assembles and disassembles various automotive components and units in preparation for repair, overhaul, rebuilding, or cleaning.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Inspects, repairs, and replaces worn or broken parts of units.
• Assembles machine units or parts relative to engine and component overhaul.
• Installs new component and engine modifications.
• Wash ports, move moves and performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Required to submit to and pass drug and alcohol testing as mandated by the Federal Transportation Administration.
• Required to have or obtain a valid driver’s license.
• Required to have experience as a Unit Preparer or its equivalent.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Required to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb up to 100%25 of job cycle.
• Required to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Required to have a comprehensive knowledge of the various automotive equipment components and parts utilized in the repair, overhaul, and maintenance of automotive vehicles.
• Must possess knowledge of the hand tools and equipment necessary to assemble and disassemble automotive engines, components, and units.
• Required to be knowledgeable of acceptable methods and procedures necessary in the cleaning and degreasing of various automotive components and units.
• Required to possess the skills necessary to operate the Authority’s automotive vehicles and equipment.
• Required to possess the skills necessary to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Required to work in or around pits.
• Subject to grease, live steam and shop noise.
EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, AND MATERIALS UTILIZED
• Standard Bus repairer tool set as issued by the Authority.
• Overhead cranes, steam cleaning equipment, heating torch, forklift.
