Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s working shipyard is hiring a reliable entry-level laborer to support daily operations while learning the basics of the marine trades. This is a great hands-on, outdoor job with opportunities to grow.

No experience? That’s okay—we’ll train you.

What You’ll Do

Clean, organize and maintain the shipyard and work areas
Sand, scrape, mask, and prep boats
Move tools, materials, and equipment
Support shipwrights and project teams
Help keep projects moving and the yard running smoothly
Jump in and help wherever needed

QualificationsWhat We’re Looking For

Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Reliable, shows up on time and works well with others
Willing to take direction and jump in where needed
Comfortable with physical labor and outdoor work in an active, hands-on shipyard and museum environment

Preferred (but not required)

Experience in marine work, construction, landscaping, or manual labor
Interest in boats, woodworking, or mechanical work

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Ability to perform physical work (standing, bending, lifting)
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Good balance, coordination, and manual dexterity
Comfortable working around water, boats, and equipment
