The Senior Director Society Relations APAC provides executive leadership for CFA Institute’s relationships with member societies across a region. The role strengthens the impact, alignment, and effectiveness of societies in advancing CFA Institute’s mission, member engagement, and market influence. Operating with high autonomy, the Senior Director is the senior relationship leader, strategic advisor, and escalation point for significant governance, operational, and stakeholder matters. They lead the regional Society Relations team, shape global operating models, and ensure societies deliver consistent value across varied markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high‑performing regional team with clear priorities, strong governance discipline, and executive‑level engagement capability.

  • Oversee society relationships across the region, providing senior counsel, direct board‑level engagement, and intervention on high‑risk or high‑impact matters.

  • Strengthen member engagement and market impact by enabling societies to deliver professional development, advocacy, employer engagement, financial literacy, and mission‑aligned initiatives.

  • Translate global and regional strategy into actionable direction for societies, aligning investments, partnerships, and relationship plans with enterprise priorities.

  • Shape global operating models by contributing regional insights, surfacing risks and opportunities, and leading cross‑functional initiatives and transformation projects.

  • Champion governance and performance standards, ensuring consistent application of policies, monitoring society health, and informing investment and improvement decisions.

  • Represent CFA Institute externally at regional and global forums, building senior‑level stakeholder relationships and strengthening market influence.

  • Drive collaboration across Membership, Advocacy, Marketing, Education, Institutional Solutions, Technology, and other functions to deliver coordinated strategies through societies.

  • Serve as senior escalation point for significant governance, operational, financial, or stakeholder issues across the region.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred; Investment Foundations Certificate required (or willingness to complete).

  • 12+ years’ progressive experience in association management, membership organizations, stakeholder relations, partnership management, financial services, or similar fields.

  • Proven leadership of teams or senior professionals, including matrix leadership across multiple markets or countries.

  • Demonstrated success advising boards and executives on governance, strategy, organizational effectiveness, financial sustainability, and membership engagement.

  • Experience translating enterprise strategy into market‑level execution through distributed networks.

  • Strong capability operating across diverse cultural, regulatory, and political environments.

  • Track record leading organizational change, implementing new operating models, and influencing outcomes without relying solely on formal authority.

  • Experience managing budgets, evaluating funding proposals, and making strategic resource‑allocation decisions.

  • External representation experience with senior industry, regulatory, employer, academic, or market stakeholders.

  • Association management or financial‑services background strongly preferred.
