Job Summary

The Security Operations Center (SOC) Manager will lead a dynamic 24/7 security team supporting a classified/sensitive environment in Oak Ridge, TN. In this role, you’ll guide high‑performing analysts, optimize security technologies, and drive the organization’s incident response strategy. You’ll ensure SOC operations align with DOE/NNSA, NIST, CMMC, and other federal cybersecurity requirements while continuously enhancing detection, response, and reporting capabilities. What You Will Be Doing

In this role, you will lead and mentor a multi‑tier team of SOC analysts, building a supportive environment that encourages growth, certification advancement, and long‑term retention. You will command incident response activities by directing detection, containment, eradication, and recovery efforts, while coordinating closely with IT, legal, communications, and business units to ensure swift and comprehensive responses. You will oversee continuous 24/7 threat monitoring, alert triage, escalation workflows, and the development and refinement of playbooks and standard operating procedures. Additionally, you will manage and optimize SOC technologies—including SIEM, SOAR, threat intelligence platforms, and automation tools—to enhance efficiency and response accuracy. Your responsibilities also include shaping SOC strategy, aligning operations with regulatory requirements, conducting post-incident reviews, and integrating emerging threat intelligence. You will provide clear, actionable reporting to leadership on SOC performance and metrics, ensure complete documentation and audit readiness, maintain compliance with frameworks such as NIST 800‑53 and ISO 27001, and collaborate frequently with ISSMs and ISSOs to support risk management, system authorization, and continuous monitoring efforts.

We’d Love to Hear from Candidates With

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related technical field.
  • 5–7 years of IT or cybersecurity experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years leading or supervising SOC teams.
  • Strong understanding of federal security frameworks and the MITRE ATT&CK methodology.
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM/SOAR platforms, threat intelligence tools, and incident response processes.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

A Successful Candidate Also Brings

  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+, or GCIH.
  • Experience working within DOE/NNSA environments or other federal agencies.
  • Familiarity with additional compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2).
  • Active DOE Q or DoD Top Secret clearance.

Pay:

Estimated Starting Base Salary Range: $92,915-$154,858 his position is Bonus eligible. Centrus considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.  While the posted range reflects the anticipated hiring range for this position, compensation above the range may be considered for candidates with exceptional qualifications and directly relevant experience.

This position will require a pre­-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test.

This position requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain a Q security clearance.  Candidates for positions requiring a security clearance are required to be tested for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR 707.4 prior to an offer of employment being made.  In addition, once employed, employees will become part of a random drug testing program and may also be tested in the event of any incident causing injury or causing damage to property, or if it is determined that there is a reasonable suspicion the employee is under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  This position will require preemployment background check on the part of the Company and in order to receive a Q security clearance, a background investigation by the Federal government.  Subsequent Federal government reinvestigations may be required.
