Responsibilities

  • Safely instruct clients through an effective personal training session at the Health and Recreation Center
  • Provide quality customer service to all clients and potential clients, regardless of fitness level, appearance, or otherwise
  • Ensure client safety throughout the strength and cardiovascular areas
  • Communicate effectively with the supervisor through phone, email, or in person
  • Enforce all program policies and procedures as it pertains to the personal training program
  • Enforce all building policies and procedures and assist as needed during emergencies
  • Attend department staff meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Possess current CPR/AED and first aid certification
  • Must possess a current nationally accredited personal training certification, such as AFAA, FITTOUR, ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA; additional NCCA-accredited certifications are often acceptable and will be reviewed for consideration
  • Leadership and supervisory abilities
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm
  • Excellent organizational, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of standard practices in fitness, wellness, and recreation
  • Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestyles
  • Other duties as required

Physical Demands

  • Lifting Heavy equipment
  • Standing or walking fast at least 50% of the work day
  • Occasional bending or stooping

Technical Competencies

  • Proficiency with fitness assessment equipment, including blood pressure, height, weight, body fat measurement with calipers, waist to hip ratio, cardiovascular testing, muscular strength and endurance testing, and flexibility testing
  • Proficient with exercise prescription and developing progressive workouts for clients
