Our Culture & Mission: Care Finds a Way:
At the Center for Human Development (CHD), our guiding philosophy is Care Finds a Way. This is the heartbeat of our organization. For over 50 years, we have been dedicated to promoting, enhancing, and protecting the dignity and welfare of people in need. Our culture is built on inclusivity, collaboration, and deep empathy. We actively work together to break down barriers to care, ensuring every youth has the opportunity to thrive.
About the Role & Environment:
The youth referred to our congregate care settings have complex behavioral health profiles and histories that require 24/7 supervision. As a Full-Time or Part-Time Direct Care Staff member, you are a key professional who maintains a structured, safe, and therapeutic environment.
While you are hired under a specific residential program, you have the collaborative flexibility to work within other CHD Congregate Care Programs as required by your direct supervisor. You will report to the Program Manager (or designee) and work alongside the youth, their family, DCF, and other supporting agencies to help children build crucial self-regulation skills.
Your Impact & Responsibilities:
- Therapeutic Support: Maintain a secure, strength-based environment that focuses on the youth's strengths and supports their daily care and rehabilitation.
- Treatment Implementation: Consistently deliver behavioral health treatments that align with the youth’s individual treatment plans.
- Diversity & Respect: Provide care that is deeply respectful of and responsive to diversity across all human characteristics.
- Shift Excellence: Execute all regular duties for your assigned shift seamlessly (e.g., overnight staff must remain fully awake, alert, and complete regular bed checks).
- Collaboration: Receive regular supervision from your direct supervisor to foster your professional development and ensure program excellence.
Schedule & Hours Requirements
- Full-Time and Part-Time schedules available.
- Availability: Shifts span across day, evening, and overnight blocks (7-3pm, 3-11pm, 11pm-7am). Weekend availability is a requirement for these roles.
