Program Director – The Retreat at Hampshire Woods
Location: South Hadley, MA
Pay Range: $75,000 – $85,000/ year
At the Center for Human Development (CHD), Care Finds a Way. We are seeking an experienced, visionary clinical and programmatic leader to oversee an innovative respite service located in South Hadley, MA: The Retreat at Hampshire Woods.
The Retreat offers a nontraditional, home-like, and holistic therapeutic space for adults facing mental health or substance use concerns. As an effective alternative to hospitalization, our program provides five onsite residential beds along with mobile services delivered directly in the home or setting of the individual's choice.
From peer-led support and mindfulness activities (like yoga, movement, and expressive arts) to clinical groups focusing on trauma, emotional intelligence, and stress management, we offer a warm, flexible bridge between inpatient and outpatient care.
The Opportunity: Innovate, Lead, and Empower
As Program Director, you will provide administrative and clinical leadership for this vital 5-bed residential and mobile respite service supporting individuals referred through the Department of Mental Health (DMH).
You will shape the program's culture, oversee operations, and ensure our multidisciplinary team delivers trauma-informed, person-centered care that aligns with our core treatment philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
- Program & Operational Leadership: Oversee daily operations for both residential and mobile components, ensuring compliance with licensing, accrediting bodies, and quality standards.
- Team Development: Lead the hiring, onboarding, training, and administrative supervision of clinical and residential staff.
- Fiscal & Administrative Oversight: Develop and manage program budgets, track electronic health records (EHR), and oversee quality and compliance reporting.
- Relationship & Community Building: Cultivate strong working relationships with regional and state funding sources, community partners, and internal CHD teams.
- Crisis Management & Support: Utilize strong clinical expertise to navigate crisis situations and guide the team in evidence-based frameworks.
- Qualifications
- Licensure: Valid MA License required (LMHC, LCSW, or LICSW).
- Education: Master’s Degree in a human services-related field required.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in behavioral health, mental health, or respite settings.
- Clinical & Leadership Skills: Strong background in evidence-based clinical frameworks, crisis management, electronic health records, and community resource navigation.
- Relationship Building: Demonstrated ability to foster strong internal and external partnerships.
