CHD is seeking an Outreach Caseworker to join our growing Planning and Implementing Housing Options for Long-term Success (PILOTS) team in Danbury, CT. Through this program, the Outreach Caseworker PILOTS staff will use a counseling approach that uses both motivational interviewing and harm-reduction.
 
YOUR ROLE AS A PILOTS SUPPORT SPECIALIST:  
As a PILOTS Support Specialist, you will assist program participants to live independently in the community by addressing their mental and physical health, substance use, employment and housing needs. PILOT’s staff use a counseling approach that uses both motivational interviewing and harm-reduction. You will help the participants with:   
  • Securing housing, move-in, relocations, interventions in eviction processes, rent arrears and housing stability.  
  • Assist participants with budgeting/banking 
  • Help participants with obtaining and maintaining entitlements. 
  • Provide crisis intervention  
  • Provide vocations assistance; resume writing, interview preparations, and job search assistance.

REQUIRMENTS: 
  • High school diploma or GED required 
  • Experience working with psychiatric disorders or co-occurring population preferred 
  • Must be comfortable engaging clients in the community for majority of the position
  • Field visits within the surrounding communities to see clients
  • Registered & insured vehicle and approved driving record check 
  • Approved criminal background check 
SCHEDULE:
1st shift, 8:30am-4:30pm. Days on: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Days off: Saturday and Sunday.
 
Pay rate is $20.00/hourly, along with a phenomenal benefit package that includes Dental, Health and Life insurance. Paid time off, earned vacation time and paid holidays, and mileage reimbursement just to name a few.
