Position Introduction:

Looking for hands-on experience in utilities, power plant operations, and infrastructure maintenance? Join the University of Oklahoma as a Utility Operations & Maintenance Intern and gain real-world experience supporting critical campus utility systems.

What You'll Do (with supervision):

  • Assist with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Update work orders, maintenance records, and timesheets.
  • Learn to operate and monitor boilers, chillers, turbines, cooling towers, and reverse osmosis systems using both manual controls and SCADA systems.
  • Support maintenance and troubleshooting of pumps, valves, electrical panels, steam systems, and utility distribution equipment.
  • Assist with electrical distribution switching and transformer inspections.
  • Read, repair, and replace gas, electric, and water meters.
  • Participate in GIS updates and utility line locating.
  • Gain exposure to water distribution, sewer collection systems, natural gas service lines, stormwater infrastructure, lift stations, hydrants, wells, and pumping stations.
