Position Introduction:

The University Counseling Center is seeking a dependable, friendly, and professional student to join our front desk team as a Student Receptionist. This position serves as one of the first points of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors seeking services at the University Counseling Center.

The ideal candidate will provide welcoming and respectful customer service while helping maintain an organized, professional, and confidential environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in counseling, psychology, social work, healthcare, education, or other helping professions to gain valuable experience working in a university clinical setting.

Required Education and Experience:

Must be enrolled in the Fall 2026 term as a student at the University of Oklahoma.

Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

Essential Duties:

  • Answer and direct telephone calls and schedule appointments.
  • Assist clients with checking in and checking out for appointments.
  • Process routine paperwork and maintain accurate information in electronic systems.
  • Communicate with counselors and other counseling center staff regarding routine administrative needs.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.
  • Protect the privacy and confidentiality of clients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a student at the University of Oklahoma for the Fall 2026 semester.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Professional, dependable, and courteous demeanor.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software and electronic systems.

Required Certifications and Licenses:

None

Department Preferences:

  • Previous customer service, receptionist, office, or administrative experience.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and helpful when assisting students who may be experiencing stress or difficult circumstances.
