Position Introduction:

At the University of Oklahoma, every story has the power to inspire, inform, and change lives. We're looking for a creative, strategic, and digitally savvy Social Media Coordinator to join the OU Marketing & Communications team to help tell those stories across one of the nation's top universities. Based in Tulsa, this position is ideal for a strategic communicator who is passionate about higher education, community, and creating content that makes a meaningful impact.

The successful candidate will bring creativity, sound judgment, and a deep understanding of today's social media landscape while serving as a trusted partner to faculty, staff, and university leadership. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a dynamic portfolio of institutional social media channels, developing content strategies that engage diverse audiences. Showcasing stories of student success and the university's community impact, you'll help tell the stories that define the University of Oklahoma, while working with one of the top higher ed social media departments in the country.

What you'll do :

  • Lead the strategy, planning and day-to-day management of assigned institutional social media channels.
  • Create compelling photo, video and written content that highlights student and faculty success, education, research and community impact.
  • Build relationships with leadership, faculty, staff and communicators to identify and develop impactful stories.
  • Develop and execute organic and paid social media campaigns that strengthen engagement and advance institutional priorities.
  • Monitor social conversations, manage online communities and provide guidance during time-sensitive communications.
  • Analyze platform performance and audience insights to continually refine strategy and maximize results.
  • Stay ahead of emerging platforms, trends and best practices to ensure OU's digital presence remains innovative and competitive.
  • Capture professional photo and social video content of campus events, headshots, and campus engagement.

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in a social media management

Department Preferences:

  • Experience in photography, headshots, video production is preferred.

The Center for English as a Second Language (CESL) at the University of Oklahoma (OU) offers in-person English language courses for international students on the Norman campus of the University of Oklahoma, and off-site courses for businesses providing English-language courses for their employees.

Our location on campus provides students with access to all University of Oklahoma resources including housing, dining, transportation, libraries, medical facilities, and more.
