Position Introduction:

The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History is seeking a student Education Assistant to support the Education Department with their programs. This position will work with Education Staff to assist with natural and cultural history programs for youth ages 3-17. Students help museum educators conduct activities, supervise students, help with regular classroom set-up and clean-up, program preparation, and other duties as assigned. May help with handling museum specimens and objects, and collection care. Some programs take place outdoors.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be currently enrolled in the Fall Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. +
  • Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Experience working with children in a daycare, classroom, or informal education setting.
  • Interest in science and natural history education.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Proactive and able to prioritize tasks independently.
  • Valid Driver’s License Required

Required Certifications and Licenses:

None

Department Preferences:

  • Experience working with children in a classroom setting. Some coursework in life science, natural history, or anthropology.
  • Familiar with local plants and animals.
