Position Introduction:

The Campus Programs Graduate Assistant (GA) is essential to the continuation of quality student programming around the University of Oklahoma. The Gas selected will be responsible for working with, but not limited to, the Campus Activities Council (CAC), What to Do, and Summer Programs. The GAs will also coordinate and supervise supplementary events, as assigned, in addition to the events led by students they will be advising such as the Fall and Spring General Council Retreat. The GA must display excellent communication, customer service skills to work with students & stakeholders, and promote programs. Those selected will be dedicated to the overall development of students and the programs they develop and implement. The GA position requires a flexible schedule of 20 hours per week (with some weeks being more than 20 hours), a willingness to work evenings, weekends, and summer.

Duties:

  • Works in the Student Life Office to fulfill 20 hour per week the GA needs to complete.
  • Advises and assists CAC students in planning, organizing, and executing events located across campus.
  • Facilitates leadership development of student leaders through 1-on-1 meetings, executive board meetings, workshops, and retreats.
  • Coordinates and supervises events such as concerts, film series, dances, contests, community service projects, and other events as assigned on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Markets and promotes Campus Programs events to the Norman campus and beyond, as assigned.
  • Assists in developing assessments for Programs and Initiatives.
  • Assists the Campus Programs team and University of Oklahoma with specific projects, such as Camp Crimson (Retro Nights, New
  • Sooner Orientation, Camp Crimson Housing Move-In, Tabling and more.
  • Attends General Council meetings as needed and determined with the full-time Campus

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be currently enrolled in the Fall Term as a graduate student at the University of Oklahoma.
  • Hiring contingent upon verification of current graduate student status.

Skills:

  • Advise and mentor student leaders through one-on-one meetings, executive boards, workshops, and retreats.
  • Plan and execute campus-wide programs, events, and student engagement initiatives.
  • Manage administrative operations, assessment, attendance tracking, and organizational records.
  • Promote events through social media, email marketing, and website content management.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to support Student Life programs and daily office operations.
