Eligibility Determination Specialist
About this role
The Community and Economic Development Association (CEDA) is a dynamic nonprofit organization committed to empowering communities and reducing poverty. We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Eligibility Determination Specialist to join our Energy Services Department. In this role, you will help ensure timely and accurate eligibility determination for energy assistance programs that serve thousands of Cook County residents.
What You’ll Do:
Review LIHEAP applications and determine client eligibility in accordance with State and CEDA guidelines.
Verify supporting documentation and investigate discrepancies to ensure case integrity.
Accurately enter, update, and correct client data in internal and State databases.
Ensure critical/imminent threat households and disconnected service cases are processed urgently and in compliance.
Draft clear and grammatically accurate case notes.
Conduct secondary review of applications to identify and address intake or verification errors.
Complete all required forms, reports, tallies, and administrative paperwork related to the application process.
What We’re Looking For:
Required: High school diploma or GED.
Preferred: One year of experience in Energy Assistance Programs or relevant social services.
Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish (not required).
Strong customer service and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, SharePoint) and comfort with web-based applications.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
