WAGE RANGE: $25.00 - $27.00/hourly 


SHIFT: Sunday through Thursday 8:00 am to 4:30pm

 

JOB SUMMARY: Catholic Charities is seeking a detail-oriented, compassionate, and culturally responsive individual to serve as a Unit Supervisor at our Higher Ground Minneapolis location. 


This role is ideal for someone who leads with empathy, is grounded in trauma-informed practices, and thrives in dynamic environments serving individuals experiencing homelessness and housing instability.


Working in partnership with the Program Manager, the Unit Supervisor is responsible for supervising staff at the shelter. This position supports program development, data integrity, evaluation, report writing, and day-to-day operations. The Unit Supervisor also plays a key role in fostering staff development, modeling empowerment-based practices, and ensuring the program environment remains safe, clean, and welcoming.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide supervision, coaching, and performance evaluations for full-time, part-time, and on-call staff.
  • Review and approve bi-weekly time records in alignment with organizational expectations and payroll timelines.
  • In partnership with the Program Manager, recruit, hire, train, empower, and supervise staff in accordance with Catholic Charities’ policies and procedures.
  • Oversee data integrity by ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of reporting for program accountability and client outcomes.
  • Ensure client intakes, observations, documentation, and incident reports are completed according to policy and program standards.
  • Work a flexible schedule - including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays - to provide consistent supervision and operational coverage during all program hours in the Program Manager’s absence.
  • Model and promote Empowerment principles, Restorative Justice, and Harm Reduction practices within the program.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of agency, divisional, and site policies and procedures, and ensure consistent adherence by staff.
  • Build and sustain community partnerships to support client needs, promote program visibility, and improve access to resources.
  • Provide information, referral, and customer service consistent with trauma-informed and culturally sensitive practices.

Perform other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERTISE:

  • Associate’s degree with at least one year of relevant experience; or two years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • At least two (2) years of supervisory experience required, preferably in a shelter, housing, human services, or similarly high-acuity environment.
  • Experience working with statistical information, reporting systems, and Windows-based programs required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours - including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnights - to ensure effective staff supervision and program oversight.
  • Experience working with diverse and/or low-income populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, housing instability, and/or mental illness required.
