Role Overview
The Senior Housing Specialist administers housing assistance programs by determining eligibility, completing and reviewing rent calculations, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining accurate records, resolving complex participant and landlord issues, and supporting staff training to promote efficient and high-quality program operations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Collect, review, and validate Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) documentation; determine program eligibility; calculate rents accurately and timely for current and prospective clients; and issue notices and collect required documentation for annual recertifications.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of rent calculations to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to program protocols; respond to inquiries; resolve calculation issues efficiently; and escalate complex matters to the Program Manager as needed.
  • Lead complex rent calculations; coordinate assignments; maintain workflow documentation and reports; ensure accurate and up-to-date records and data systems.
  • Collaborate with program staff, landlords, and stakeholders to resolve issues; maintain compliant client and departmental files; ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Partner with team members to support onboarding and professional development; deliver one-on-one training to new Housing Specialists to ensure alignment with program processes, accuracy standards, and team objectives.
  • Engage in ongoing learning, training, and skill development, seeking and applying feedback to continuously improve performance and contribute to team and organizational success.

PLEASE NOTE: Essential functions include all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Kneel and move from sitting, bending, kneeling, or standing multiple times a day
  • Climb up and down up to 3 flights of stairs at a time
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 25 lbs

Education and Experience Requirements:
Minimum
  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) 1-3 years relevant experience
  • Demonstrate prior experience in subsidized housing or a related field.
  • Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Apply strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Preferred
  • Associate's Degree (AA) in a related field of study 3-5 years relevant experience

Certifications and Licensure
  • Preferred: Certified Occupancy Certification or must acquire within one year of employment.
