11:59 PMThe Radio Production Assistant supports the Producer in creative development, planning, preparation and control-room operations during live radio broadcasts.
This is a casual, on-call position with no guaranteed hours. Shifts may be occasional or regular depending on operational needs.
Because Radio-Canada broadcasts 24/7, this role requires the ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
Role:
Support the Producer or Announcer/Producer in the creative development, planning, preparation, production and post-production of radio programs in line with corporate standards and policies.
Key Tasks:
- Assist the Producer and fill in for them as assigned across various stages of production (e.g., editing, recording, music selection and on-air presentation).
- Attend story meetings and help define program content and production requirements. Organize logistics as directed by the Producer or Announcer/Producer, including drafting production schedules, booking resources and arranging team travel. Liaise with contacts.
- Source audio material and music required for broadcasts on request.
- Plan, draft and adjust schedules for actors, musicians and other participants for rehearsals and recording sessions. Issue call sheets. Gather and compile the required details for contracts, artist fees and payroll documentation. Ensure these documents are drafted, signed and processed.
- Listen to and time the program and count down all segments. Isolate and label reports, interviews and clips. Keep the show on schedule against the rundown. Relay clear instructions between the control room, studio talent and remote locations. Proactively identify and resolve technical, IT, timing or operational issues that could disrupt production.
- Help update program web pages.
- Assist with preparing and presenting programs, live hits and pre-recorded content by following rundowns, scripts and sheet music; checking and sharing all relevant information and instructions with the production team.
- Carry out all other related tasks as needed.
This role requires full-time on-site presence.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Community college diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) years’ relevant experience.
Skills:
- Solid command of the primary working language: French.
- Proficiency in the other official language (English) is an asset.
- Strong computer literacy and familiarity with radio production software.
- Broad knowledge base.
