About this role
Duties of Aftercare teachers include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsibilities
- Taking daily attendance
- Planning and executing educational in-class and outdoor activities and events
- Supervising students during reactional activities
- Observing and understanding student behaviors
- Monitoring students for allergic reactions
- Reporting injuries or behavioral issues to director immediately
- Ensuring constant communication with reception desk teacher so students can be dismissed promptly
- Providing students with orderly and quiet environments to complete homework
- Encouraging students to be respectful of the school and property by leaving classroom, hallways, and activity area neat and orderly
Skills
- Knowledge of teaching best practices partnered with a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Well-organized, creative, and energetic
- Strong moral values and discipline
- Knowledge of CPR, First Aid and use of the AED
