Role definition:

Designs, develops, validates, and implements Ground Engaging Tool (GET) systems for Wheel Loaders and Underground Mining (UGM) Loaders. Responsible for delivering innovative, durable, and cost-effective solutions that enhance machine productivity, wear life, reliability, and customer value. Applies engineering expertise to convert application requirements into robust product designs while balancing performance, manufacturability, and cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop GET system components including Tooth Points, Adapters, Wear Caps, Shrouds, Side Bar Protectors, Heel Shrouds, and related wear protection products.
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, specifications, and product documentation.
  • Develop product solutions based on customer applications, machine performance requirements, and field feedback.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI), Current Product Improvement (CPI), and product quality initiatives.
  • Utilize FEA, Discrete Element Modeling (DEM), wear simulations, and engineering calculations to evaluate and optimize designs.
  • Develop load cases, breakout force calculations, and component performance requirements through application understanding.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, validation, and quality teams to ensure successful product implementation.
  • Drive innovation by challenging conventional designs and identifying opportunities to improve product performance and reduce cost.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product design and development.
  • Experience in wear components, mining products, construction equipment, or ground engaging tools preferred.

Desired Technical Competencies

  • Strong understanding of casting design, manufacturing processes, heat treatment, and metallurgy.
  • Knowledge of wear mechanisms, tribology, structural analysis, and durability principles.
  • Proficiency in Creo, Teamcenter, GD&T, and engineering drawing standards.
  • Experience with FEA, DEM, wear simulations, and performance modeling.
  • Ability to understand machine applications and develop realistic load cases and design requirements.
  • Strong analytical thinking, cost awareness, and value engineering mindset.
  • Innovative approach with the ability to challenge the status quo and develop customer-focused solutions.

Knowledge of analytical techniques, engineering tools, simulation methods, and AI-assisted technologies that promote effective problem solving; ability to identify root causes of design and performance issues and develop multiple solutions that optimize customer value, durability, manufacturability, and cost.

Knowledge of mining applications, Ground Engaging Tool (GET) systems, wear technologies, and engineering methodologies; ability to develop innovative solutions to complex technical challenges while improving customer value, product performance, durability, and cost competitiveness.

Computer-Aided Design & Engineering:

Knowledge of engineering tools (Creo, Teamcenter, ANSYS, DEM, Wear Simulation) and techniques of parametric design, simulation, and knowledge-based engineering; ability to design, analyze, simulate, validate, and optimize Ground Engaging Tool (GET) systems throughout the product development lifecycle.

Product Design and Development:

Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.

This position requires working onsite five days a week.Relocation is available for this position.
