                                                                                                                             Title: Custodian/Facilities Technician 


Role Summary: The Custodian/Facilities Technician maintains cleanliness of bathrooms, common areas, lounges, cafeteria, and buildings in general and as assigned.

Core Workstreams and responsibilities:

  • Perform custodial services during weekends, evenings, weather‑related events, and campus activities to maintain building readiness. 
  • Clean and sanitize refrigerators and microwaves in faculty lounges to support shared food safety. 
  • Perform light maintenance tasks, including changing light bulbs and unclogging toilets, to support daily facility operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of common areas, including hallways, reception areas, cafeteria, lounges, windowsills, baseboards, doors, and interior glass to uphold facility standards. 
  • Clean cafeteria tables and related surfaces to support daily food service operations. 
  • Clean glass doors at building entrances to maintain safe and presentable access points. 
  • Stock and organize custodial supplies in storage areas to ensure materials are available for daily operations. 
  • Empty waste baskets and garbage receptacles to maintain sanitation throughout the facility. 
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms and fixtures, including stalls, tiled walls, doors, and mirrors to maintain health and hygiene standards.
  • Other duties as assigned


What you’ll bring: 

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities to complete assigned work. 
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions to perform duties as directed. 
  • Ability to occasionally work on weekends.
  • Ability to perform moderately heavy manual work associated with facilities operations. 
  • Ability to work as part of a facilities team and complete assigned tasks
  • Provide proof of completed COVID‑19 vaccination as required.


Education, Certification, and other experiences: 

  • High School diploma or GED 
  • Prior custodial experience
  • Knowledge of Sanitation

Salary Range and benefits:

  • A competitive annual starting salary range of  $20.10 to $26.76 an hour commensurate with experience.
  • 46 total days of time off (a combination of paid holidays, vacation, sick, and personal time) per year. This number increases over time.

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods while performing assigned duties. 
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment, typically weighing up to 50 pounds. 
  • Ability to use custodial tools and equipment, including mops, vacuums, buffers, and cleaning machines. 
  • Ability to work in environments with exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and varying temperatures.
