The Opportunity
CarePoint Response is seeking an experienced and compassionate Medical Manager to provide clinical leadership and oversight for our ASAM Level 3.7 Withdrawal Management Program, Substance Use Disorder Treatment Services, and Crisis Stabilization Residential Program.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Medical Director, Chief Program Officer, Nurse Manager, and interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure the delivery of high-quality, integrated care that addresses substance use, psychiatric, and physical health needs. You will play a critical role in supporting client safety, clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement across residential and withdrawal management services.

What You'll Do
Clinical Leadership & Medical Oversight
Provide clinical leadership for withdrawal management, substance use treatment, psychiatric stabilization, and somatic healthcare services.
Conduct medical assessments, evaluations, physical examinations, and determine appropriateness for admission, continued stay, referral, transfer, and discharge.
Perform medication evaluations and ongoing medication management, including medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), withdrawal management, psychiatric treatment, and physical health conditions.
Develop individualized treatment plans, stabilization plans, and recovery-focused interventions.
Program Operations & Care Coordination
Collaborate with nursing staff, behavioral health clinicians, and community providers to ensure coordinated, person-centered care.
Participate in admission reviews, discharge planning, transition planning, and ongoing clinical case consultation.
Monitor client safety, withdrawal symptoms, psychiatric risk, medication effectiveness, and overall medical stability.
Quality, Compliance & Performance Improvement
Ensure compliance with COMAR regulations, CARF accreditation standards, and CarePoint policies.
Support quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, documentation reviews, and corrective action planning.
Analyze clinical outcomes, performance metrics, incident trends, and utilization data to improve service delivery.
Participate in risk management, incident review, and regulatory readiness activities.
Staff Development & Clinical Consultation
Provide clinical consultation and guidance to nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members.
Support staff training related to withdrawal management, medication administration, crisis stabilization, trauma-informed care, documentation standards, and client safety.
Promote a culture of clinical excellence, professionalism, recovery, and continuous learning.
QualificationsQualifications
Education & Credentials
Required: Board-Certified Psychiatrist (MD/DO) or Nurse Practitioner licensed to practice in the State of Maryland.
Current unrestricted Maryland license required.
Experience
Extensive experience in community-based behavioral health, substance use treatment, withdrawal management, or crisis services.
Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, documentation, and medication management skills.
Experience working within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Experience with crisis intervention, de-escalation, and risk management practices.
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership and clinical decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication, consultation, and collaboration skills.
Knowledge of ASAM criteria, withdrawal management protocols, and crisis stabilization practices.
Familiarity with COMAR regulations, CARF standards, and behavioral healthcare compliance requirements.
Commitment to trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and person-centered care.
