Strategic Partnerships Director
About this role
About CareMessage
CareMessage is a social enterprise and the largest patient engagement platform for low-income populations in the United States. We deliver personalized health education and care coordination through text messaging — reaching patients where they already are, in the language they speak, at the moments that matter most. Unlike technology built for large health systems and adapted down, CareMessage is designed from the ground up for organizations serving low-income, historically marginalized communities.
Why Join Us in Leveraging Technology to Improve Health Equity
Many of us have had the experience of doing good work or building great products, but wondering if it is truly making an impact. At CareMessage, our mission is clear: improve health equity for low-income populations across the United States. Every role here connects directly to that purpose. We care deeply about the communities we serve, and we also hold a high standard for performance, collaboration, and integrity.
Our ideal team members:
Deliver meaningful, measurable results
Invest in their teammates and build trust
Seek feedback and continually grow
Stay steady and solutions-oriented in ambiguity
Lead with integrity and responsibility
Communicate with clarity and empathy
If you are motivated by impact, energized by collaboration, and ready to do some of the most meaningful work of your career, we encourage you to apply. If this sounds like you, we would love to meet you.
About the Role
CareMessage is hiring a Strategic Partnerships Director to build the partnership operating layer that helps our Growth team scale revenue, reach, and patient impact through a disciplined, measurable, and mission-aligned ecosystem strategy. The ideal candidate for this role is one that is not only motivated by driving ARR, but sees equal value in what partnerships translate into in terms of patient impact. This will be a highly cross-functional individual contributor role that needs to help the organization achieve revenue targets through partnerships.
As a social enterprise and patient engagement platform designed for low-income, historically marginalized communities, CareMessage grows by helping safety-net organizations engage patients, increase access to care, improve clinical outcomes, and address social drivers of health. This role will translate that mission into a clearer partnership system that supports our current FQHC business, partner-led market expansion through Tribal Health and other organizations, and mission-aligned organization acquisition through Free & Charitable Clinic Associations.
This is an L4 individual contributor role with broad cross-departmental ownership. The Strategic Partnerships Director will not manage direct reports at this stage; instead, they will orchestrate partnership execution across Growth, Product, Customer Experience, Professional Services, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, and Strategy so that partnerships move from relationship activity into measurable revenue, market access, operating discipline, and patient impact.
This role will own partner-driven and partner-influenced ARR outcomes, build the systems needed to make partner contribution visible and accountable, and support CareMessage’s work to drive impact in key regions like Texas and other ecosystem-based growth opportunities. Success in this role means creating joint value: measurable growth for CareMessage, clear value for the partner, and meaningful access, engagement, workflow, or outcome improvement for the safety-net organizations and patients we serve.
What You Will Do
A. Own partner-driven and partner-influenced outcomes that drive our growth
Own the partnership operating plan for CareMessage’s partnership growth work, including partner-driven ARR, partner-influenced ARR, partner-generated sales-accepted pipeline, attribution rules, partner portfolio priorities, and patient-impact narrative.
Translate CareMessage’s partnership strategy into quarterly execution priorities across platform, network, association, and regional ecosystem partners, with focus on key partners and regions like Texas and other priority market-entry motions.
Orchestrate cross-departmental execution with Sales, Product, Customer Experience, Professional Services, Finance, RevOps, Legal, Compliance, and Marketing so partner opportunities move from signal to qualified opportunity, signed agreement, launch, measured adoption, and ARR or impact outcome.
Use partner performance, pipeline quality, attribution, implementation readiness, product or technical dependencies, and customer / patient impact signals to recommend where CareMessage should invest, reset, scale, or sunset partnerships, including communicating risks, tradeoffs, resource needs, and decisions to the Chief Growth Officer through clear, data-driven updates that include cross-functional implications.
B. Lead cross-departmental partnership execution across our diverse partnerships portfolio
Lead the operating rhythm for priority partnerships across EHR and platform partners, API/interoperability partners, data and workflow partners, referral and co-sell partners, PCAs/HCCNs, networks, payers, ACOs/CINs, funders, and sponsored-program partners by strengthening owners, decision rights, milestones, risk checkpoints, handoffs, and executive decisions needed to move from partner interest to signed agreement, launch, and measurable growth or impact.
Convert partner opportunities into mutual plans that clarify joint value for CareMessage, the partner, and the customer or patient, including commercial model, co-sell or referral motion, product and implementation needs, legal and compliance requirements, and success measures.
Hold internal and external stakeholders accountable to agreed partnership milestones by surfacing blockers, resolving cross-functional tradeoffs, and escalating decisions when partnership execution depends on company-level choices.
Ensure partnership commitments are feasible and durable by validating product, technical, implementation, financial, data/privacy, and support implications before CareMessage makes market-facing promises.
C. Build repeatable and scalable partner motions and operating systems across our partnerships portfolio
Build repeatable partner motions across referral, co-sell, marketplace, sponsored-program, association, network, and integration-enabled pathways, with clear criteria for when each model should be used.
Create the partnership operating system, including partner segmentation, rules of engagement, mutual plans, handoff workflows, scorecards, QBRs, attribution, and success criteria, so partner contribution is visible and repeatable.
Strengthen decision rules for investing, maintaining, resetting, scaling, or sunsetting partnerships based on strategic fit, partner-sourced or partner-influenced pipeline, ARR impact, implementation burden, product dependency, and patient impact.
Use AI, automation, CRM/PRM workflows, dashboards, and meeting intelligence to reduce manual coordination, improve follow-through, synthesize partner signals, and make partnership performance inspectable.
What You Will Achieve
Within 30 days: Learn, map, and align
Build a current-state map of CareMessage’s partner portfolio, including active relationships, stalled relationships, emerging opportunities, partner economics, risks, and open commitments.
Propose and align with the Chief Growth Officer and key cross-functional leaders on partner-driven and partner-influenced ARR definitions, priority relationships, decision rights, and operating cadence.
Identify the highest-priority partner relationships to invest in, reset, pause, or clarify based on strategic fit, revenue potential, patient impact, and internal capacity.
Within 60 days: Structure, prioritize, and activate
Launch a first version of the partnership operating rhythm with partner scorecards, QBR templates, mutual plans, risk tracking, and partner-sourced or partner-influenced pipeline visibility.
Create priority partner plans for the relationships most likely to drive ARR, market access, product leverage, sponsored programs, or patient impact.
Establish clear handoffs with Sales, Product, Customer Experience, RevOps, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, and Strategy so partner work becomes actionable and accountable.
Within 90 days: Convert, institutionalize, and scale
Present a partnership portfolio strategy that identifies where CareMessage should invest, maintain, reset, sunset, or build new partner motions.
Demonstrate early movement in partner-driven or partner-influenced pipeline through account mapping, co-sell motions, referrals, funded-program paths, or partner-enabled customer conversations.
Deliver the first version of the partnership operating system, including attribution definitions, QBR cadence, scorecards, decision logs, partner briefs, and cross-functional handoff models.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for this role may include:
Partner-driven and partner-influenced ARR, including partner-sourced opportunities, partner-supported expansion paths, co-sell outcomes, and partner-enabled revenue opportunities.
Sales-accepted qualified pipeline from partners, including referrals, co-sell activity, sponsored-program paths, network opportunities, and partner-generated customer conversations.
Partnership operating health, including activated priority partners, completed QBRs, clear decision records, defined handoffs, partner-specific success criteria, and cross-functional follow-through.
What You Will Bring
8–12+ years of B2B strategic partnerships, alliances, business development, channel partnerships, partner sales, healthcare SaaS, digital health, health technology, or related commercial partnership experience in complex, multi-stakeholder markets.
Demonstrated experience owning strategic partnerships as an individual contributor with measurable outcomes tied to partner-driven ARR, partner-influenced ARR, partner-sourced pipeline, co-sell, referrals, sponsored programs, expansion, market access, patient/customer impact, or joint value creation.
Demonstrated ability to orchestrate cross-departmental work without direct authority across Growth, Product, Engineering, Customer Experience, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, Strategy, and executive stakeholders.
Strong negotiation and commercial structuring experience across partner economics, pricing, revenue share, referral fees, co-sell rules, sponsored-program structures, renewal/reset terms, or complex partnership agreements that create value for CareMessage and the partner.
Sound product, technical, implementation, legal, and compliance judgment, including working fluency with healthcare interoperability concepts such as APIs, HL7, FHIR, EHR integrations, data exchange, implementation readiness, support burden, and contract risk before commitments are made.
Strong operating-system discipline, including use of AI, automation, CRM/PRM, analytics, scorecards, QBRs, or workflow tools to scale partner operations, synthesize market signals, improve follow-up and reporting, and produce executive-ready recommendations that connect revenue growth to patient impact.
Location and Travel
This is a remote role within the United States. Regular travel is expected for partner meetings, conferences, customer visits, executive relationship-building, and market learning, typically one to two trips per month for a few days each.
