Salary: Our salaries generally range from $ 86816.59 to $ 108520.74 and are based on qualifications and experience.

About the role

Join the Financial Services team, in the Specialist, Credit Analysis position. In this role, you will play a key part in assessing the creditworthiness of existing and prospective counterparties to support CMHC's credit risk framework. You will conduct ongoing credit and financial analyses, while providing advice and recommendations to support informed decision making. Your ability to identify emerging risks through research, analysis, and stakeholder engagement will be critical in helping CMHC deliver housing affordability solutions for Canadians.

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Perform complex financial analyses of rated and non-rated financial entities, as well as other counterparties, related to CMHC’s securitization, outsourcing, investment, hedging, and/or mortgage loan insurance activities.
  • Prepare proposals and recommendations regarding investment limits and borrower financial strength, and assign internal credit ratings to counterparties based on the results of financial reviews.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis in support of corporate initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate systems are in place to support effective and efficient credit risk analysis.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with key corporate client leaders and other relevant stakeholders to develop a thorough understanding of their operations and operating environment.
  • Evolve and implement CMHC’s credit risk policies and procedures.

 

What you should have:

 

  • An undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in credit, with a focus on fundamental and/or investment analysis, and progressively increasing responsibilities related to key business outcomes.
  • Experience using market information and analysis systems, such as Bloomberg, Reuters, and S&P Capital IQ.
  • A strong understanding of financial statements and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to take initiative and work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and perform effectively in a fast-paced, multi-demand environment.

 

It would be great if you also had:

 

  • A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), or Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Experience with Wallstreet Suite.
  • Bilingualism (French and English).
