We're currently seeking a Sr. Aircraft Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will maintain, repair, and inspect aircraft systems and components, as well as aircraft ground support equipment, to ensure the continued airworthiness and operational readiness of assigned aircraft. You'll oversee aircraft maintenance activities, perform complex troubleshooting and inspections, and support flight operations in a fast-paced, high-tech environment. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the airworthiness of asigned aircraft. Performs complex maintenance and repairs, conducts engine runs, and inspections. Plans, manages, and controls the maintenance of assigned aircraft as the Team Lead for maintenance inspections. Communicates delays to management and provides daily status updates to the Maintenace Operations Manager for assigned inspections.
  • Perform Pre-Flight/Post-Flight Inspections on Gulfstreams and Learjets and any other company owned aircraft in accordance with the checklist to ensure airworthiness. Escalate identified discrepencies to management. Perform aircraft towing and marshalling safely. Service aircraft as needed. May travel up to 10% of the year to provide off-site aircraft maintenance support as the designated Crew Chief.
  • Layout, fabricate, and install special modifications to the aircraft based on drawings and sketches. Has a basic understanding to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the Calspan Variable Stability System (VSS) and other complex in-flight research systems installed on the various aircraft. Maintain close communication with Modification team and Maintenace management in order to ensure effective and timely job completion.
  • Adhere to company policy and procedure. Has an extensive understanding of aircraft forms and records and accurately fills them out and checks the work of others for quality. Observes current applicable FAA Regulations and AMMs while performing required maintenance. Highly skilled at using the company's digital maintenance management tool (FlightDocs) to document maintenance.
  • Provides oversight and trains and evaluates lesser experienced mechanics on basic/routine and complex tasks in accordance with the company's Maintenance Training Program on all Job Responsibilities.

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • 7+ Years experiene as an aircraft mechanic
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Formal Aircraft Mechanic Technician training preferred
  • Possess Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) ratings
  • Must possess a valid driver license
  • Attend formal Aviation Maintenance Training for assigned aircraft

 

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Highly skilled at estimating hours and materials for completing projects
  • Technically competent maintainer capable of leading a maintenance inspection
  • Extensive knowledge of aircraft accessories, components and other hardware
  • Thorough knowledge of all aircraft mechanical systems functions and interactions
  • Thorough knowledge of blueprints, work orders and task cards to determine type of configuration and special instructions prior to installation
  • Abilty to train lesser experienced mechanics on basic through complex maintenance tasks
  • Will be trained and licensed on all aviation ground support equipment as required
  • Thorough working knowledge of all current FAA Regulations
  • Use of precision tools, measuring devices, instruments, etc.
  • Wear appropriate PPE as designated in each work area
  • Must provide the required tools
  • Quality System and Safety Awareness
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment throughout the work shift
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to travel minimum 10% of the year

The salary range provided is a general guideline. Actual pay will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and other applicable qualifications.  Calspan is committed to pay transparency in compliance with applicable state and local laws.
