The Butler Community and Engagement team is seeking a proactive and creative student to serve as our Impact Giving Associate. This role supports the Annual Giving team and University Advancement with marketing, social media outreach, and campus engagement for major fundraising initiatives, including Giving Tuesday and Butler Day of Giving. The Associate will collaborate closely with the Butler University Student Foundation (BUSF) to promote student philanthropy and execute donor stewardship initiatives. Through this role, the student will develop highly marketable skills in professional communication, campaign coordination, and creative content development while contributing directly to university-wide goals.

Responsibilities

  • Campaign Coordination: Assist in the planning and execution of Giving Tuesday and Butler Day of Giving fundraising initiatives, including developing marketing materials, drafting social media content, and organizing on-campus student activities.
  • Student Engagement: Partner with the Butler University Student Foundation (BUSF) to drive student involvement and promote philanthropy education across campus.
  • Donor Stewardship: Execute donor appreciation projects, including making thank-you phone calls, drafting personalized outreach, and writing handwritten appreciation notes to university supporters.
  • Content & Storytelling: Proactively recruit, interview, and photograph or film featured students to showcase student stories and impact across various advancement channels.
  • Volunteer Mobilization: Help recruit, organize, and schedule student volunteers to manage tabling stations during key high-priority fundraising days.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with other general advancement duties as assigned to support the day-to-day operations of the Butler Community Engagement team.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment as an undergraduate student at Butler University.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently approach, interview, and collaborate with peers and student groups.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including clear phone etiquette and legible handwriting for donor appreciation cards.
  • Proven organizational skills and the ability to work independently on complex projects with minimal day-to-day oversight.
  • Absolute commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive university, student, and donor data.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with visual content creation and graphic design tools, such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or Adobe InDesign.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, with particular comfort utilizing Microsoft Excel for organization and tracking.
  • A willingness to learn and work within the university fundraising database.
  • Prior experience in social media management, event promotion, or volunteer coordination.
  • An interest in exploring a career path in advancement, higher education administration, or nonprofit fundraising.
