Position Description
The Front Desk Staff member serves as the welcoming face of Butler Esports Park, providing excellent customer service and creating a friendly, professional environment for all guests. This position assists visitors with basic technology support and troubleshooting for gaming stations, peripherals, software, and facility equipment. Responsibilities also include operating the point-of-sale system, processing membership purchases and renewals, answering questions about services, and maintaining accurate transaction records. This role provides opportunities to build skills in customer service, technology, sales, event operations, and leadership while supporting additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule
5–15 hours per week; schedule determined collaboratively
Position Responsibilities
- Welcome guests and members with friendly, attentive service that promotes an inclusive and professional environment.
- Assist visitors with check-in, memberships, facility policies, reservations, and general questions about Butler Esports Park.
- Troubleshoot gaming computers, consoles, peripherals, software, and related technology to minimize disruptions and maintain a positive guest experience.
- Process membership purchases, renewals, merchandise sales, and other transactions accurately through the point-of-sale system.
- Maintain organized front desk records, transaction details, equipment checkouts, and guest information.
- Clean and organize gaming stations, shared equipment, front desk areas, and other facility spaces to maintain a welcoming and professional environment.
- Monitor the facility and gaming areas to help ensure equipment is used properly and safety expectations are followed.
- Support events, programs, and daily facility operations while completing additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Must be actively enrolled as a Butler University student throughout employment.
- Communicate effectively with guests, members, and staff, with the ability and willingness to strengthen written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate reliability by arriving on time, completing assigned shifts, and meeting scheduling expectations.
- Show a willingness to learn gaming technology, facility systems, and basic troubleshooting procedures; prior technical experience is welcomed but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous customer service or hospitality experience may help candidates succeed in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for guests.
- Familiarity with basic PC troubleshooting, gaming hardware, peripherals, or software is beneficial but not required.
- Participation in the broader gaming ecosystem—such as esports, recreational gaming, streaming, content creation, or gaming communities—may also support success in the role.
