Position Summary:
This role is more than just a WOK COOK. It is the opportunity to act as a brand ambassador to bridge cultures through food. Take our patrons on a culinary adventure through education, quality customer service, and a positive experience at our restaurant. We are counting on you to be an extension of our brand.
The WOK COOK requires expertise in high-heat wok cooking, a deep understanding of Burmese/Southeast Asian flavors and the ability to prepare traditional dishes with precision and speed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook authentic Burmese and Southeast Asia wok-based meals
- Use traditional wok techniques to create bold flavors while maintaining high-quality cooking standards
- Maintain proper cooking temperatures and wok heat control for consistency in every dish
- Work quickly and efficiently to prepare multiple orders while ensuring food presentation and portion accuracy
- Set up and stock the wok station with fresh ingredients, sauces and necessary kitchen tools
- Ensure all food is cooked in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Assist in preparing ingredients, such as chopping vegetables, marinating meats and making sauces
- Monitor food inventory and communicate with the kitchen team to ensure a smooth workflow
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe workstation throughout the shift
- Collaborate with chefs, and other kitchen staff to uphold the restaurants
Qualifications:
- Wok cook experience is a must (2 + years' experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Burmese and Southeast Asian cuisine, including ingredients, spices and cooking techniques
- Expertise in high-heat wok cooking, stir frying, and proper handling of traditional Burmese/Southeast Asian cooking equipment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong knife skills and ability to prep ingredients efficiently
- Ability to acquire a Food Handlers license, Sexual Harassment certification (before or withing 2 weeks of hiring)
- Bilingual is a plus
