AI Product Engineer
About this role
We're looking for someone with 2-8 years of software engineering experience (ideally 4-6 years) who has at least one clear "peak" in their career — whether that's a top-tier school, rapid promotion trajectory, early-stage startup growth experience, or working on a standout team at a top company. You should be comfortable with high ownership, end-to-end product thinking, and building backend-heavy systems in Python. Bonus points if you have healthcare or health-tech experience, familiarity with Rust, or experience at fast-growing platform companies.
Responsibilities
Take full ownership of product features end-to-end — from ideation and design through implementation and deployment — in a team with no product managers
Build and scale agentic AI workflows and agent primitives that power reliable, long-running clinical reasoning tasks across major health systems like Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic
Spend roughly half your time generating code and half planning, reviewing, and thinking deeply about user impact and technical architecture
Work primarily on backend infrastructure (approximately 65% backend, 35% frontend) using Python, Rust, React/TypeScript, and Kubernetes on AWS
Collaborate async with a flat, seven-person engineering team where everyone works across the full product — no silos, no standups, minimal meetings
Develop deep product intuition by interfacing with clinicians, end users, and customer call recordings to translate clinical needs into actionable technical solutions
Contribute to building net-new feature sets (30-40% of work) on top of existing infrastructure, with very little maintenance burden
