Position Summary

The Medical Assistant supports physicians and clinical staff in delivering high-quality, compassionate patient care while providing excellent customer service to patients and families. The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting with clinical procedures, maintaining accurate patient records, coordinating care, and supporting the daily operations of the primary care practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with direct patient care, including obtaining and documenting patient histories, vital signs, medication lists, and other clinical information.
  • Prepare patient charts and complete pre-visit planning to support efficient provider visits.
  • Track laboratory results, enter patient data, and manage clinical documentation.
  • Perform routine clinical procedures, including EKGs, rapid strep testing, urine dip testing, spirometry, nebulizer treatments, and other office-based procedures.
  • Administer vaccines, injections, and medications as authorized and within established clinical guidelines.
  • Provide patients with education and guidance regarding designated medical conditions and treatments within established scope and protocols.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and monitor STAT referrals, prior authorizations, and other patient care needs.
  • Complete quality reports and assist with closing care gaps to support consistent patient outcomes and quality measures.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels of medications, vaccines, and medical supplies.
  • Monitor and document vaccine refrigerator temperatures in accordance with Department of Health regulations.
  • Follow established safety, environmental, and infection-control procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, Department of Health, HIPAA, and other applicable federal and local regulations.
  • Protect the confidentiality and security of patients’ demographic, clinical, and financial information.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and compassionate, respectful patient care.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, workshops, and activities related to clinical responsibilities and office workflows.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, administrative staff, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant training program required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or a minimum of three years of Medical Assistant experience required.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in a primary care or outpatient medical setting.
  • Strong clinical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention, and patient safety practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate medical records.

Pay Range:

$18.13-$29.90
