About the Role
Responsible for the origination of commercial loans which fit within the Bank's Business Banking parameters. Focus will be on new and existing commercial customers and will include all products and services, retention of current accounts, and servicing client needs.

What You Will Do

  1. Actively solicits and develops new commercial loan business through networking and client calls.
  2. The lender will assess credit needs in the market, recommend products or credit enhancements, and be responsible for the sale and closing of the products.
  3. Work towards achieving individual production goals as established and provided under separate cover by management.
  4. Actively supports small business growth initiatives by participating in outside business calls with Branch Managers, Business Development Officers, and Trust Officers as appropriate.
  5. Ability to structure loan transactions and administer collateral in line with Bank's credit guidelines; make pricing and loan structuring recommendations for small business loans.
  6. The individual in this position needs to be able to perform the following activities: 1) review financial statements which can include budgets, operating statements, cash flow statements, pro formas, and sources and uses statements, 2) author concise summaries of borrower's financial situation, 3) make recommendations and present to Business Banking credit for approval.
  7. Develop a network of referral sources.
  8. Leverage knowledge of existing customer base to maximize opportunities to cross-sell bank services.
  9. Continued education of credit and general banking skills.
  10. Actively participates in community business development events i.e. chambers, civic, and professional organizations.
Qualifications

What We Expect of You

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, proven business development skills, formal credit training and computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of commercial lending process with demonstrated experience in credit evaluation.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of applicable banking regulations and laws governing commercial lending.
  • Skilled at critical financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated sales, negotiation and relationship management skills. General working knowledge of assigned market is helpful.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field and/or related industry experience.
  • 5 to 8 years commercial lending experience, including demonstrated experience in credit analysis.

Internal and External Contacts

  • Extensive external customer, prospect and referral source contacts.
  • Internally this position requires regular contact with various departments within all divisions of the Bank, including management.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Ability to travel throughout the workday to visit clients and throughout the company footprint. Limited daily office environment. Operate a computer. Ability to communicate in order to exchange simple to complex information with individuals and groups.
