Job Description
The Bartender greets and interacts with our guest in a friendly, courteous, responsive and accurate manner; provides beverage service to guests while providing excellent customer relations; acts as cashier for the guest and servers of the assigned outlet; provides routine support duties to higher level management staff; and performs related tasks within area of assignment
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Delivers superior internal and external guest service the Boyd Gaming Way and works harmoniously with fellow team members.
- Assumes responsibility for beverage service to guests while providing excellent customer relations; and acts as cashier for the guest and servers of the assigned outlet.
- Pours and mixes drinks according to established recipes; maintains a clean and safe work environment; and maintains company funds and equipment in an orderly manner.
- Ensures compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations concerning over serving guest and serving alcohol to minors under the age of twenty-one (21).
- Opens and closes outlet in accordance with established procedures; ensures sanitation and protects company assets.
- Inspects all areas of responsibility for safety and maintenance needs; takes action as needed for a clean, safe, and productive work environment.
- Monitors and maintains supplies needed for the operation and cleaning; maintains par levels; refills supplies for operations and items for sale.
- Demonstrates specific product offerings and ordering procedures
- Makes change and operates a cashier machine; ensures correct change is provided to guest.
- Notifies higher level management of any suspicious or unusual activity and/or transactions in a timely manner.
- Attends and participates in professional group meetings; maintains awareness of new trends and innovations in the field of customer service.
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)
- Some experience to effectively perform the position duties, with at least two (2) years high volume cocktail service experience.
- Must be able to obtain all Regulatory licenses that required
- Must successfully pass background check
- Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening
- Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
- Must be willing to work weekends, Friday and Saturday nights, and holidays if needed.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
Knowledge of:
Operations, services and activities of a customer service and bar operation; method and techniques of beverage sales and deliveries; knowledge of table service procedures and table etiquette; familiarity with beverages and wine service; cashiering and denominations of currency; drink mixology and bar equipment; principles and practices of cleaning standards; pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
Ability to:
Takes orders, stock supplies and bus bar area; observes and directs actions of bussers to inspect and maintain assigned areas; review and comprehend drink recipes; pour cocktails and use all equipment associated with the position including but not limited to cash register and bar equipment; retrieve supplies and maintain a clean working area; operate a variety of equipment which includes bar and soft drink dispensing equipment, blenders, dishwashers and coffee making machines; receive monies and make change; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; prepare clear and concise reports; interpret and explain policies and procedures; interpret and apply federal, state and local policies, laws and regulations.
