About this role

  • Provides health education, counseling on relationship issues, health issues, pregnancy, family planning, education prevention, pregnancy counseling, and contraceptive compliance to young women and men at Boston Public Schools as identified by the Program Director.
  • Works with Child and Adolescent Health Services Program Director and team as per protocol for intervention with teens at risk, including for pregnancy, for becoming a father, or for STIs.
  • Fills out appropriate forms as required in a timely manner
  • Follows up with clients as appropriate or as designated in the protocol.
  • Attends all required training. Receives updates from ABCD on family planning counseling.
  • Attends HIV counseling course as assigned and acts as a resource for training additional staff.
  • Provides family planning services, such as counseling and dispensing, per MD/PA/NP at the Adolescent Center of BMC or another ABCD site.
  • Coordination of care
  • Community and Schools Outreach & Engagement activities (Students enrollment activities into the SBHC).
  • Works with the Program Director and team to develop a plan for low-barrier access to family planning for students at all Boston sites (form, communications, protocol, etc.)
  • Implements condom availability programs as defined by BPHC and the Boston Public Schools.
  • Meets established intervention productivity requirements.
  • Supports youth peer health educators at assigned sites
  • Works closely with BPS personnel at school sites to integrate education and training activities.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS in a related field preferred.
  • ABCD Family Planning training.
  • Two years of experience working with teens.
  • Familiarity with family planning methods.
  • Ability to work well as a member of a team.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish, Cape Verdean, Creole, Chinese) preferred.
  • Program development skills are desirable.
  • Completion of HIV test counseling course preferred.
