Job Description

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading and improving manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective production. This role provides technical leadership for process development, production support, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration with design engineering, quality, supply chain, and operations.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Process Leadership

  • Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Lead process improvements focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI), including process development, tooling, and production readiness.

Technical Expertise & Problem Solving

  • Serve as a technical authority for manufacturing methods, equipment, and materials.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues (e.g., scrap, rework, downtime).
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.

Equipment, Tooling, & Automation

  • Specify, design, or validate production equipment, tooling, fixtures, and automation.
  • Lead Capital projects form concept through installation, qualification, and handoff.
  • Ensure equipment capability, reliability, and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Quality & Compliance

  • Partner with Quality Engineering to ensure processes meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audits, PFMEAs, control plans, and process qualification / validation activities.
  • Ensure adherence to company, customer, and industry standards.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Maintain a strong shop-floor presence to provide hands-on support and rapid response to production initiatives.
  • Work cross-functionally with Design Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance.
  • Mentor and guide Junior level manufacturing engineers
  • Provide technical input to management on manufacturing strategy and operational decisions.
  • Maintain professionalism with respectful communication, ethical behavior, and a positive attitude.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
  • Strong Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and production systems.
  • Proven experience leading process improvements and technical projects.
  • Proficiency with engineering drawings, specifications, and process documentation.
  • Strong data analysis and statistical problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

  • Exposure to HVAC manufacturing or regulated industries (e.g., aerospace, automotive, medical, or defense).
  • Experience with automation, robotics, CNC machining, assembly lines, and complex manufacturing systems.
  • Lean Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement certification.
