Responsibilities

  • Perform transmission repairs, maintenance, diagnosis, and related vehicle repairs according to dealership and factory standards
  • Complete assigned repair orders efficiently and accurately based on skill level and certification
  • Diagnose transmission concerns and determine the appropriate repair using modern diagnostic equipment and service information
  • Inspect, service, rebuild, and replace transmission components as needed
  • Road-test vehicles when necessary to verify repairs and confirm proper vehicle operation
  • Communicate with Service Advisors regarding recommended repairs, diagnostic findings, and work required
  • Coordinate with the Parts Department to obtain the parts and supplies necessary to complete repair orders
  • Document all diagnostic findings, repairs, and services performed
  • Maintain required certifications and complete new-model and technical training
  • Attend factory or dealership-sponsored training to remain current with changing technology and repair procedures
  • Stay informed of technical service bulletins, factory updates, and other relevant repair information
  • Protect customers’ vehicles by maintaining a clean and professional work area inside the vehicle
  • Keep the service shop, tools, and work area neat, clean, and organized
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • Previous professional automotive technician experience required
  • Strong transmission diagnosis and repair experience preferred
  • Ford/Lincoln certification preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong mechanical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to operate modern electronic diagnostic equipment and service tools
  • Ability to understand and follow technical repair procedures and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with Service Advisors, Parts personnel, and other technicians
  • Willingness and ability to complete ongoing technical training and maintain required certifications
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
