Specialist 2/ Vice President – Securities Finance Market Operations
About this role
We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Specialist 2/ Vice President to join our Markets – Securities Finance Operations team. This role is located in Hong Kong.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Support the daily processing and monitoring of securities lending transactions, including loan settlements and collateral management.
- Manage the recall process of securities loans from borrowers, ensuring timely communication and follow-up to meet APAC market timelines.
- Monitor and manage fails (when securities are not delivered on time), coordinating with internal teams, Trading desk and external counterparties to resolve issues efficiently.
- Support the execution and management of buy-in processes in markets where securities fail to settle, minimizing financial and operational risks.
- Act as the liaison between trading desks, clients, and counterparties to address trade-related queries.
- Process, monitor, and analyze transactions, resolve non-complex inquiries promptly.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders/clients to gather, disseminate, and clarify transaction information.
- Perform reconciliations to third parties (cash, assets, trade matching, market value); analyze breaks, assign ownership, and drive resolution of reconciliation breaks and failing trades.
- Respond to client queries and resolve straightforward inquiries with clear, timely communication.
- Identify and escalate complex transactions and issues to senior team members.
- Collaborate with a defined set of stakeholders to provide recommendations on basic inquiries.
- Contribute to the achievement of team objectives and overall operational excellence.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, or related field.
- 4+ years’ experience in Securities Finance, Middle Office, Operations, or related financial services roles.
- Basic understanding of securities lending concepts, including loans, recalls, collateral, and settlement processes.
- Familiarity with APAC market practices and settlement timelines is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Get trained and handle all daily business operations with a sense of commitment and ownership.
- Experience / Acumen towards Operations and Technology initiatives.
