Position Overview

The Irrigation Service Technician is a hands-on position responsible for repairing and maintaining irrigation systems for commercial and residential landscape customers. This role combines technical troubleshooting with planning, administrative, and regulatory functions to ensure systems perform properly and efficiently.


Key Responsibilities

Technical Repair & Installation

  • Execution: Repair irrigation systems to ensure proper performance and perform new installations as needed.

  • Diagnostics: Diagnose and repair irrigation controllers; utilize electrical diagnostic equipment including valve locators, multi-meters, and fault finders.

  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate construction equipment such as trenchers, tamps, excavators, skid loaders, and boring equipment.

  • Manual Labor: Use hand tools (shovels, picks, rakes, saws) and pressure washers; load and unload heavy equipment and tools.

Operations & Logistics

  • Workflow: Schedule and monitor daily workloads; plan, coordinate, and collect necessary equipment and materials each day.

  • Fleet Management: Maintain truck and trailer standardization, cleanliness, and inventory for irrigation vehicles.

  • Material Handling: Handle bagged and bulk materials safely.

  • Support: Assist in other divisions such as installation or floriculture as needed; participate in snow removal during winter months.

Administration & Communication

  • Reporting: Submit daily BOSS Mobile timesheets and accurately record materials used for billing purposes.

  • Communication: Communicate daily with the Production Manager regarding progress and planning; use technology effectively for team communication.

  • Relations: Maintain professional on-site relations and communications with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and internal customers.

  • Quality: Manage job quality, hours, and perform daily start-up and shut-down procedures.
