Position Title: Desktop Deployment & Moves Technician

Location: Alexandria, VA (onsite)

Postion Summary

Deployment Technician needed to support laptop refresh, asset deployment, and technology modernization initiatives. The technician will be responsible for deploying, installing, configuring, and supporting Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), including laptops, monitors, docking stations, printers, and related peripherals for onsite and shipment for remote users. This position requires close coordination with deployment, inventory, warehouse, and support teams to ensure successful equipment delivery, installation, recovery, and asset accountability.

Candidates must be available to support a rotating deployment schedule that includes both morning and evening/night deployment activities based on operational requirements and customer availability. Occasional overtime and weekend support may be required during large-scale deployment efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Deploy and install IT equipment for end users in office locations, ensuring all devices are properly configured and operational.
  • Set up and connect laptops, monitors, docking stations, printers, and other peripherals according to established deployment standards.
  • Verify equipment functionality and perform basic troubleshooting during deployment activities, such as; cable management, configuration and testing laptops, monitors and other devices as required. 
  • Scan and process deployment documentation to ensure accurate asset tracking, inventory accountability, and user assignment records.
  • Prepare, configure, and test laptops and related equipment for telework and remote users prior to shipment.
  • Stage, package, and coordinate shipment of laptops and accessories while working closely with warehouse personnel to ensure monitors, peripherals, and other equipment are properly prepared and shipped.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through asset scanning, data entry, and inventory management processes.
  • Receive and recover legacy equipment from users office during refresh and replacement initiatives.
  • Process returned equipment by inspecting, scanning, documenting, and preparing assets for surplus, redeployment, recycling, or disposal in accordance with agency procedures.
  • Assist with laptop refresh projects, office moves, new hire deployments, and other technology deployment initiatives.
  • Coordinate with deployment, warehouse, inventory, quality control and support teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of equipment and services.
  • Maintain organized staging, deployment, and storage areas while adhering to security and asset management requirements.
  • Provide professional customer service and technical support during deployment activities and user interactions.
  • Follow established contract procedures for asset control, equipment handling, shipping, receiving, and inventory management.

Qualifications/Requirements (required and desired):

  • 1–3 years of experience in IT deployment, desktop support, inventory management, logistics, or asset management.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift, move, transport, and package IT equipment as required.

Technical Requirements (required and desired):

  • Experience with Windows-based laptops and desktop environments.
  • Familiarity with laptop imaging, deployment, configuration, and hardware setup.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Experience with asset management systems, barcode scanners, and inventory tracking tools preferred.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for laptops, monitors, printers, docking stations, and peripherals.

Education, Training or Certifications (required and desired):

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Information Technology or related field preferred.
  • CompTIA A+, HDI, or equivalent technical certification preferred.
