As a Senior Data Engineer at Bitwarden, you will contribute directly to the future of the Bitwarden product and organization while working with a great team and amazing open source community. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of building and transforming our data pipelines, logs, financial data, integrated solutions, and analytics in order to piece together dashboards and insights to help with strategic decision-making.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and maintain ingestion and transformation pipelines across the data platform — Stripe billing, HubSpot CRM, product event data, and internal application databases — landing into Delta Lake on Databricks
  • Own pipelines end to end: schema evolution, CDC and incremental logic, backfills, data quality checks, and the alerting that makes silent failures loud
  • Design and evolve data models across our layered Unity Catalog architecture (Raw, Prep, Global, Business, Department), balancing governance requirements with the reporting needs of downstream teams
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Finance, RevOps, and Security to translate ambiguous business questions into durable datasets rather than one-off extracts
  • Review PRs and provide constructive, pointed feedback to help fellow team members grow
  • Contribute to shared internal libraries and pipeline frameworks so that patterns are reused instead of reinvented

WHAT YOU BRING TO BITWARDEN

  • At least 5 years of professional experience building and operating production data pipelines
  • Extensive experience with Python and PySpark for production data engineering, not just notebook exploration
  • Strong SQL skills, including window functions, incremental patterns, and query optimization against large tables
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks — Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and job orchestration
  • Solid understanding of dimensional modeling and the tradeoffs between normalized, wide, and aggregate table designs
  • Experience integrating third-party SaaS APIs (billing, CRM, product telemetry) and handling their pagination, rate limits, and messy semantics
  • Git-based development practices: branching, code review, CI, and deploying pipelines as code
  • Collaborative and adaptable mindset with excellent communication skills
  • Excitement and enthusiasm for open source and for better internet security
  • Excellent problem-solving skills — you might not know all the answers, but you know how to find and communicate the solution

A FEW REASONS TO WORK WITH US

  • Our user community loves us and we love them. Come to work each day with a sense of purpose as we bring a more secure internet experience to everyone from our friends and family to the world’s largest organizations.
