City Fleet Dispatcher (12-month contract)

About this role

As a City Dispatcher, you will execute the day-to-day activity of your assigned region. This includes monitoring of the fleet, accurately distributing, receiving and updating information. Identifying and participating in the resolution of issues relating to day to day driver activities is an essential responsibility of this role. You must be well organized, an excellent communicator and have a keen sense of timeliness in carrying out daily activities.

Note: This is a contract position with the possibility of extension based on business needs and individual performance.

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Dispatch: This involves the transmitting and receiving of all information relevant to the driver/cartage company performing his/her duties within the Company and customer requirements.
  • Satellite and Telephone Management: Handling of all driver related satellite messages or calls within assigned and overflow queues.
  • Reporting: Recognition, communication and documentation of situations that should be reviewed by other parties, for information, action and record keeping purposes.
  • Problem Resolution: Working on behalf of both the Driver and the Company to resolve any day to day issues that may arise.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time, on a daily or permanent basis (i.e. special projects, training seminars, weekend planning and other job related tasks).

Our Ideal Candidate will possess:

  • Dispatch experience is considered to be a strong asset in this role.
  • Educational background in Supply Chain Management (or other relevant area such as Business).
  • Dedicated experience providing customer service in a similar work environment.
  • Well organized, an excellent communicator and have a keen sense of timeliness.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, communication, problem solving and planning abilities.
  • Knowledge of the transportation industry and General Vancouver Area city geography are considered assets.
  • Able to quickly adapt to changes, shift focus, meet deadlines, and complete time-sensitive tasks.

Note: Candidates must have reliable transportation to ensure regular and punctual attendance at the worksite, which is not readily accessible by public transit.

This position is subject to a 2x2x3 Continental shift, hours of work are 05:00 - 17:00 PT.
