Senior Transportation Manager
About this role
- Build trust and strong relationships with partner carriers, transportation leadership across regional teams, Purchasing, Material Analysts, Marketing, and Engineering to drive alignment and execution.
- Lead transportation RFPs/RFQs, including scope development, bid events, carrier evaluation, award recommendations, and implementation.
- Manage carrier cost, capacity, and service performance for inbound transportation.
- Manage BBU Trans (3rd-party transportation provider) responsible for day-to-day movement of raw ingredients, packaging, and displays.
- Develop and maintain carrier relationships supporting imports from Mexico.
- Serve as point of contact for internal transfers of machinery and international shipments, coordinating with GB and internal stakeholders as needed.
- Solicit and qualify new carriers; lead onboarding and compliance requirements.
- Provide 3PL/carrier management, including contract oversight, KPI development, performance reviews, and vendor transitions.
- Partner with carriers/3PLs and Finance to resolve freight billing discrepancies and support timely payment.
- Ability to build strong business relationships and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Ability to lead and coach special projects while meeting specific timelines and objectives.
- Ability to establish objectives, ownership of work, and accountability for results.
- Ability to comprehend and communicate complex information effectively to gain alignment.
- Ability to make strategic business decisions impacting short and long term.
- Ability to manage and influence P&L results.
- Ability to cultivate talent through coaching.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation, Supply Chain or related field.
- At least 7 years of related and varied experience in both managing transportation and or supply chain.
- A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted (under education and experience).
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization.
- Strong experience using tools and software such as MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
- Ability to travel, visit facilities/sales centers/distribution centers within the organization.
- Strong analytic skills with attention to detail.
- Must be able to plan & accomplish goals with limited supervision.
