Job Summary:

The Management Consulting Senior Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and developing business for the HR consulting practice. This position is responsible for bringing in business, managing clients and supervising the consulting staff. The Management Consulting Senior Manager manages the full life cycle of human resources consulting engagements, leads local strategy development by having a “seat at the table” with the businesses in the market, and serves as the driving force and the beacon in HR consulting arena. The role is also responsible for mission/vision creation, intervention and conflict resolution, team integration and assimilation, coaching and relationship management, and implementing talent management tools designed for determining performance and potential.

Job Duties:

  • Evaluates clients in relation to established goals and recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and service performed
  • Leads Business Development activities and the overall growth of the practice
  • Directs all Management Consulting programs and practices, including: 
    • New Program Development & Support (HRIS, Employee Development Programs/Mentor/PM Programs)
    • Policy Development & Employee Relations
    • Training as needed
    • Manage Recruitment & Generalist Functions
    • Employee orientation process
  • Develops, recommends and implements personnel policies and procedures
  • Develops and maintains client’s human resource department policies to ensure legal compliance and effective utilization of HR resources
  • Works one-on-one with the clients’ Directors to assess recruiting needs and develop recruitment strategies for the positions
  • Annually reviews and makes recommendations to clients’ Executive Management for improvement of client's policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures client compliance
  • Communicates changes in clients’ personnel policies and procedures and ensures proper compliance is followed
  • Assists clients’ Executive Management in the annual review, preparation and administration of firm wage and salary program
  • Coordinates and/or conducts exit interviews for clients to determine reasons behind separation
  • Works directly with clients’ managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters including compliance with Federal and State legislation 
  • Develops and maintains a human resources system that meets clients’ personnel information needs
  • Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities
  • Delivers strategic HR consulting to business clients
  • Manages the delivery and acceptance of core HR processes (Associate Engagement, Career Development, Performance Management, Staffing, Leadership Development, Change Management, etc.) across client areas
  • Works with senior leaders of client groups to resolve HR related issues and design a customized people strategy to support the growth of the business
  • Partners with clients’ core HR functions (training, associate relations, etc.) on exempt and non-exempt issues
  • Owns the strategy and execution of key HR processes across client areas
  • Selects and uses training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things to clients
  • Establishes a rapport and good communication with co-workers, clients and others
  • Other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directs and manages all members of the Management Consulting team in their region.
  • Reviews work prepared by Analyst, Consultants and Managers and provides verbal and written performance feedback as needed
  • Consults, coaches and influences the Management Consulting team and clients on workforce management and HR programs
  • Motivates, develops and directs people as they work

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Human Resources, or Psychology, required
  • Graduate degree, preferred

Experience:

  • Ten (10) or more years of human resources or related generalist experience including employee relations consulting, recruitment, organizational development, basics of compensation and benefits, required
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in a supervisory role, preferred
  • Exposure to employment and labor law, required

License/Certifications:

  • PHR or SPHR certification, preferred

Software:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint, required

Language:

  • N/A

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to:
    • Effectively communicate in a courteous, professional and tactful manner by e-mail, telephone and in person with co-workers, management, clients and others in favorable or unfavorable situations

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $140,000 - $180,000
Maryland Range:  $140,000 - $180,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range:  $140,000 - $180,000
