Role Overview

The Genome Editing Regulatory Manager will play a pivotal role in executing Bayer's crop genome editing regulatory science enablement strategy and shaping regulatory policies related to genome editing technologies within specific countries or regions. This position is crucial to our R&D priorities and requires a strategic thinker who can challenge the status quo and effectively communicate across key stakeholder groups internally and externally. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of plant breeding, genome editing technology, regulatory frameworks, and policy advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement regulatory policy advocacy strategies to support the advancement of genome editing technologies within the designated country or region.
  • Monitor and analyze regional regulatory trends and policy developments related to genome editing in the broader context of seed and biotechnology regulations.
  • Engage with regional regulatory bodies, industry groups, and other stakeholders to advocate for favorable regulatory environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on regulatory strategies and priorities.
  • Provide expert guidance on regulatory status determination and compliance requirements.
  • Draft, prepare, and manage regulatory submissions to enable the product pipeline, ensuring timely and accurate filings with regional regulatory authorities.
  • Lead and manage projects related to regulatory policy advocacy and regulatory affairs within the region.
  • Communicate complex regulatory and policy concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Build strong relationships with regional teams and stakeholders to effectively execute Bayer's Regulatory Genome Editing Enablement strategy.

Qualifications

  • PhD preferred; Master's degree required in a relevant field (e.g., genomics, plant breeding, biotechnology, regulatory affairs).
  • Proven experience in genome editing technology, plant breeding, and regulatory policy.
  • Prior experience in an AgTech R&D environment considered a plus.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High proficiency in English (both written and verbal) is required; additional languages are a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, global, multicultural environment.
  • A forward-thinking mindset with the ability to challenge conventional approaches.
  • Willingness to speak up and advocate for innovative solutions.
